Tanning and Sunblock

don't be confused

When tanning in a professional tanning salon clients have been known to use sunblock or sunscreen while tanning. This is not only unnecessary because the session time and exposure is controlled, but can lead to injury should one forget to apply the product after having increased their session time. Way to often we find that a client having trouble developing a tan has been using SPF lotion as a tanning lotion. SPF lotion blocks the UV and inhibits the production of Melanin and Vitamin D. Tanning lotion fuels the tanning process with tyrosine and moisturizes the skin allowing more UV into the epidermis. Cosmetics are generally loaded with sunblock ingredients causing a reliance upon the product and its daily use. Tanning with cosmetics on the skin it not recommended.
